This morning was a weekly mental health peer support group.
What do we do?
A group of facilitators with mental health lived experiences, welcome local members of the public who are going through the same issues, to come and join us for a natter and support in a safe environment.
Is it fun?
Absolutely. Though we don’t judge other people’s problems, we ensure that everyone that walks through our doors go away feeling a lot better than when they first arrived. Today was a case in point. We had a real laugh. Mental health can be a very heavy subject, and by making it seem less burdensome, we ensure the group is happy and able to face everyday challenges.
Today we had to compete with a force ten gale blowing outside and the room shook with the sound of the windows being rattled constantly. But it was simply great and I just love the work that goes in to make sure it’s enjoyable. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. The formula seems good at the moment. The people that walk through our doors are magnificent models of recovery and we do our best to promote recovery each and every week.
So good positive thoughts before I go to bed tonight.
