It’s never pleasant to wake up, even on another lovely spring day, to check today’s world events.
Suffice it to say, the news is not good. Were it ever thus? Though news organisations are becoming propaganda machines and not concentrating on truthful news reporting, I think today, whichever way you spin it, sends a cold feeling up my spine as to what the future may hold.
I’m not here to comment on the rights and wrongs of what has happened in Sweden and Syria. What I will say though is:- Would anybody be mad enough to finally end civilisation as we know it? I would hope not. But the politicians in this world owe it to us to pursue peaceful means, not using war as an entertainment vehicle on prime time television. I would hope that today’s events are isolated happenings, as one Winston Churchill once said, jaw jaw is better than war war. Whatever happened to everyone just getting on?
I hate wars, they solve nothing and only create more divisions in society, more pointless deaths, and more column inches in the newspapers and more air time on the TV networks. It’s the public that pay the price for this futility. I hope that common sense and diplomacy can head off these current problems at the pass…we will see.
