“The state of mind affecting the physical state of the body”
This is very appropriate for me at the moment. I’m in a good place. Calm and relaxed, consequently, I’ve got little wrong physically at present. I have had a cold for the last four or five days, but it’s been such that I’ve been able to go out and do things, rather than fighting it off.
Men normally, when presented with a cold, can over dramatise and make everyone think that our maker is calling. Not for me this week. I don’t feel ill, just a few sneezes and a slightly sore throat. Boxing on, as that is the best alternative.
The brain is like a sponge. It absorbs information and sends out signals to our body. If we’re not in a good mental state, the signals transmitted are not good. The aches and pains are magnified and the body tries to shut down. Traumas and unpleasant life events are absorbed and manifest themselves in all sorts of physical ailments.
So, a good mental state equals a good physical state. Psychosomatic in a nutshell.
